The energy produced by this 6.4 MW solar farm is allocated to the Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority (BMHA), which serves low-to-moderate income residential customers. The solar farm also utilizes sheep, shepherded by a landowner of the Amherst community, to maintain the vegetation on site during the grazing season. The Amherst solar farm is helping the Town of Amherst fulfill its role as a NYSERDA Clean Energy Community, contributing to New York’s goals of distributed solar generation, as well as the need for projects to benefit disadvantaged communities.
